Which is superior : Astral Shell or Elemental Saucesphere?

Both do similar things, but one requires a turtle totem... thoughts?

And the other requires a saucepan.

If you're getting both totem and saucepan, then astral is better because it gives you DA as well.

If you can only get one of the two items, then the totem also gives you access to Empathy and Curiosity. So I'd vote for Astral.

And in non-TT runs, that turtle totem is a nice "infinite use" item for Starfishing, waiting for major YR's to show up, etc.

Having one level of elem resist is the main draw, for passing DD tests, entering Guano junction, and finishing the McLarge quest, so either will suffice.
(Of course, these days you can use a Parrot for all but Guano. Kids today!)

TT buffs are more useful generally (save, perhaps, as a Sauceror - but then it's a non-issue) - so having a totem is more desirable than a saucepan if you have to choose (ie first/second time in the forest).

As an actual buff, Elemental is better for Lord Spookyraven I guess, and maybe the Friars, but Astral otherwise.

Gag reflex is better for entering guano anyway. So gag + parrot should get you covered for almost everything.

Oh, agreed - but gag reflex didn't exist when I permed Astral Wink I still use it out of habit Smile

And the original question was "Which of Elemental or Astral is better?", not "How best to deal with Elem-resist requirements?..."
