Skill Tests

For the tests the needed stat to pass is
Code:
basementlevel^(1.4) + 2.

Variance of +5% and -5%

I am 100% certain, with a variance of +-5%, that the variance of 5% is not correct... would love to see the exact number, but unfortunately no one seems to know it? Sad

Data to support this claim? (Not that I'm doubting you, just wondering how big the variance you found was).

edit: also I think its basementlevel^(1.4) + 102 one of the 3 muscle tests (same with moxie/myst tests which might even be +202), no?

Assuming Sauceror, then;

a) How many clover would it take to get from level 13 to level 23 to start the basement?

b) How many turns of Myst Gym would it take?

c) And how many turns using Gallery or Bedroom (whichever better)?

I need to figure out whether the time/cost ratio regarding clover is worth it Shocked

Shocked Should we plan the whole ascension for you turn by turn? Or just aftercore?

No, I can manage without 50-day BM ascensions thanks Rolling Eyes

I suppose the question simplifies to how many mini-stat points are required to get from level 13 to level 23?

The Poor Man's Basement Outfit setup
(no Baios, Jeks, URs. Hell, no Mr. Store items / skills)

The gear listed can be obtained through ascension, Hobopolis / Slimetube runs, and the Mall.

I'd like to thank LaRoni for running HCS so well.

Assumptions:

You have Torso Awaregness.
You have ascended Hardcore once as an AT (for stainless steel suspenders).
You have all six Bad Moon ascension rewards.
You have three or four Oxy runs, and therefore, the corresponding Plexiglass rewards (specifically AT, TT, Sauceror OR PM).
You have an adequate amount of Hobopolis loot (specifically Hodgman's outfit. if you are lucky, Chester's muscle shirt, Oscus's flypaper pants).
You have an adequate amount of Slime Tube loot (specifically Slime Suit). If anything, this is the most costly of the gear. It's worth it though.
You are willing to spend some meat in the Mall (no more than a day's worth of meatfarming). The Mall is essential to get key items (wrestler stickers, sugar sheets) or is a cheap alternative from normal means (letterman's jacket, etc.)

Further assuptions concerning being frugal (or cheap, whatever):
You don't have kick-ass Hobopolis gear (whacking stick, overcoat, hamster).
You don't have any depleted Grimicite gear. (+0% - +25% all stats, depending on the moons)
You don't have a dead guy's memento. (+5% all stats)

For the sake of this guide (and because I don't have it permed yet Embarassed ):
You don't have Double-Fisted Skull Smashing (equip a weapon in your off-hand).

I will list the outfits here; if there are negative effects (BM rewards), I do not list them.

Muscle Test (stat test)
Hat: Plexiglass Pith Helmet (+30% Muscle) Oxy TT reward
Shirt: letterman's jacket (+10% all stats) Mall
Chester's muscle shirt (+20% Muscle) Hobopolis if you're lucky enough to get it!
Weapon: Brimstone Bludgeon (+50% Muscle) BM SC reward
Off-hand: Brimstone Bludgeon (+50% Muscle) BM TT reward
Pants: sugar shorts (+25% all stats) Mall (sugar sheet)
Accessory1: Hodgeman's bow tie (+20% all stats) Hobopolis
Accessory2: corncob pipe (+10% Muscle) Mall
Accessory3: lucky bottlecap (+5% all stats) Mall

Mysticality Test (stat test)
Hat: Hodgman's porkpie hat (+20% all stats) Hobopolis
Shirt: sea salt scrubs (15% Myst) Mall
Weapon: Sticker sword/crossbow with 3 wrestler stickers (+30% all stats) Mall
Off-hand: red wagon (15% Myst) Mall (may require multiple purchases of big slimy cyst to get it)
Pants: sugar shorts (+25% all stats) Mall (sugar sheet)
Accessory1: Brimstone Bracelet (+50% Myst) BM Sauce reward
Accessory2: Brimstone Brooch (+50% Myst) BM PM reward
Accessory3: Plexiglass pinky ring (+30% Myst) Oxy Sauce reward OR Plexiglass pocketwatch (+30% Myst) Oxy PM reward [Both Oxy Myst rewards fight for the third Accessory slot; personally I'd go for the pocketwatch for +3 advs./day. You get diminishing returns with elemental resistance, but the pinky ring is good too. And if you go for 4 Oxy rewards, might as well complete the loop and do all 6, right? Razz ]

Moxie Test (stat test)
Hat: Brimstone Beret (+50% Moxie) BM AT reward
Shirt: letterman's jacket (+10% all stats) Mall
Weapon: Sticker sword/crossbow with 3 wrestler stickers (+30% all stats) Mall
Off-hand: vinyl shield (+10% Moxie) Mall
Pants: Brimstone Boxers (+50% Moxie) BM DM reward
Accessory1: plexiglass pendant (+30% Moxie) Oxy AT reward
Accessory2: Hodgman's bow tie (+20% all stats) Hobopolis
Accessory3: stainless steel suspenders (+15% Moxie) HC AT reward

The Poor Man's Basement Outfit setup (continued)

Elemental Resistance (generic outfit for ANY element)
Further assumptions:
You are not buying elemental jewelry from the Mall, or perhaps you're using self-made bling from that crappy jewelrycrafting trophy, maybe?
An Exotic Parrot is awesome. Don't forget the familar equipment. Parrot's a cool 500k meat though.
You will be using the correct elemental phial so you're only being dealt one HP of damage from one of the two elements being tested.

Hat: hardened slime hat Slimetube
Shirt: shark jumper Mall
Weapon: titanium assault umbrella Mall*
Off-hand: six-rainbow shield Mall
Pants: hardened slime pants Slimetube
Accessory1: hardened slime belt Slimetube
Accessory2: plexiglass pinky ring Oxy Sauce reward
Accessory3: Hodgman's bow tie? (+20% Muscle) Hobopolis

From what I understand, you get diminishing returns with every bit of elemental resistance gear you wear. Perhaps one would be better off with +HP gear, or indirectly, +Muscle gear for a greater well of HP for the test to drain from. I am open to suggestions.

Festering Powder (max MP test)
Personally, I just equip the +Myst test outfit. Should be good enough.

Gauntlet (DA / max HP test)
Personally, I just equip the +Muscle test outfit. A nice hat is battered old top-hat (+5% Muscle, +500 max HP) Hobopolis (Marketplace for 150 nickels). I haven't used this hat though.
Here is my outfit (get ready to laugh, seriously)

Hat: sponge helmet Mall
Shirt: shark jumper Mall
Weapon: duct tape sword sorry, you're gonna have to farm Dooks here.
Off-hand: spongy shield Mall
Pants: Oscus's flypaper pants Hobopolis
Accessory1: stainless steel suspenders HC AT reward
Accessory2: Hodgman's bow tie (+20% Muscle) Hobopolis
Accessory3: cornbob pipe (+10% Muscle) Mall

For HP and MP tests, The Sea Salt Scrubs is an excellent shirt. Plus its good to have on general principle for getting maximum mileage out of sftercore Nuns.
