Version 2.1.1 released. See last post for details.

=====================================

ActiveChat is a new tabbed chat interface for KoL.

It is similar to (and based on) CDMoyer's Tabbed Chat, with some additional functionality and a brand new interface.

Some features:

Tabbed Chat: Similar to the original script. Shows messages from different channels and private conversations in separate tabs.
It will auto-detect the channel you're in on startup, and optionally pre-load tabs for all the channels you're currently listening to. You can close tabs (and stop listening to channels) by double-clicking them.

Events panel. Shows all non-chat (green) messages in a separate panel, so that the chat pane can stay a bit more unclogged.

Mafia gCLI integration. Allows you to execute mafia commands from inside the chat pane. (optional)

Ascension Log Notes. Allows you to easily add notes to your mafia ascension log. (optional)

Some settings you'll need to check:

On your accounts page in KoL, under Chat Options, make sure the "Show tag in current channel" option is selected.

If you're using mafia, you'll need to deselect the following options (Preferences\Browser tab)

- Integrate chat and relay browser gCLI interfaces
- Reformat incoming chat HTML to conform to web standards

If you want to enable the ascension log feature, you'll need a fairly recent version of mafia. (Version 13.9 or build 8046 or later)

You'll also need to disable the original Tabbed Chat script if you were using it. And of course, you need to be using Firefox with Greasemonkey installed.

The script is still fairly new, so if you run into any problems or have questions/requests, please report them here. Thanks again to StDoodle who did a lot of testing and helped me iron out some of the early problems.

The latest version can be downloaded here

Thanks NatNit, glad you like it so far.

I just upgraded to Firefox 3.6 this morning, and noticed some weirdness when resizing the panels. Should be fixed (or at least better) now.

BUG!

When using the latest daily builds of mafia, mafia continually prints an error message to the CLI when this script is active.

Code:
Password hash mismatch
Path: "/KoLmafia/messageUpdate?pwd="

Should be all fixed in the latest version of ActiveChat. Tested with the latest mafia build (r2830), but let me know if you still have issues.

No dice. :(

Same problem, just re-dl'd (even uninstalled first, just in case) & using r8230 of KoLmafia.

Ugh. That's probably because I'm an idiot. Try it now.

Can there possibly be an option to remove the events pane?

I'm one of those people who doesn't have their window maximized while playing, and the events pane really makes it difficult for me, as I have to resize the chat everytime I use /f, /who, or /whois.

Aside from that, though, I greatly prefer this to CDM's. It's nice to not have to confirm closing a tab.

The next version will probably have the option to show events either in it's own tab, or mixed in with regular chat messages.

I've been a bit lazy recently, so I can't promise it to be soon.

Sounds good =)

I've run into another little snafu. Not sure HOW I did it, but somehow I had /games (channel I was in) in the normal pane, and /clan (which I was listening to) showing up in the events pane.

Anyone know how I did that/how to get out of it, besides exiting/re-entering chat?

Woot just using this. It looks very nice. Love the note taker. Above all I love how smooth it looks.

Edit: I asked a question but answered it myself by clicking on something. Cheers.

Edit2: So now I do have a question.

When I was using CDM's chat I got pms in my main tab yet pms I sent got their own tab. In both vanilla KoL and in the relay browser.

Now with active chat I get the channel I'm in displaying in the events pane and channels I'm listening to in the main chat pane. Events etc all also get displayed in events. My fix is be in /kwe and listen to the rest. But that still sucks when fites are oneD FF latest version. GM up to date.

Chez do you have any idea what I need to click on?

Edit3: OK. Never mind. Random clicking saved the day. You need to actually click on: display tag in current channel. Not just think that because it says it, it already is that way. Man, could the account menu suck more?

I installed this a few weeks ago and it works great!

However, I created a multi today, and all the chat in /newbie appears to get moved into the 'events' section. I've no idea why this is (possibly because I'm not yet in a clan?) and I've no idea how to fix it, but I thought I'd let you know just in case you were intrigued enough to investigate :-)

On your accounts page in KoL, under Chat Options, make sure the "Show tag in current channel" option is selected.

If that doesn't fix it, let me know and we'll dig deeper.

yeah, that worked; I fail at reading :? (I thought I only had to change the mafia options)
Now my multi can enjoy newbie in all its glory!

Just found a slight bug.

In PMs, if your PM begins with an equal sign, it kicks the PM into your main chat channel. (As in, not PM'ing at all.)

How did you get that in vanilla kol? In mafia, you should be able to fix it by unchecking Preferences -> Browser -> Reformat incoming chat HTML to conform to web standards. I guess it's off-topic in this thread, but just in case you switch back for whatever reason.

Minor bug report: the included pages only account for having one mafia copy running (port 60080); when you have two, the script doesn't fire on the second, since its URLs have 127.0.0.1:60081 instead. Easy enough to fix on the fly, though!

If you want it to also work in kolproxy, there should be a wildcard instead of any part of the port number.

Latest version includes a couple of minor fixes:

* Added a wildcard instead of a port number for relay browsers.

* Fixed some issues that caused changes made by other GM scripts to the character pane to disappear.

* Fixed some weirdness when the first character of a chat message is "=".
(This is an (undocumented ?) feature from CDM' original version that evaluates simple math statements and prints the answer. Eg. typing "=11+37" will print "11 + 37 = 48" in the events panel. Should be working properly now.)

Awesome! No more manual edits :)

There was somewhere some kind of documentation for that math thing, because I'm sure I've heard about it before (but instantly forgot and never used it) - probably in the GD forum thread or something.

Many thanks for this script!

I'm only missing a small feature from the original chat script from
CDM: single clicking the tab moves the marker line to the bottom.

Huh. Never even noticed the original did that. Script now updated with single-click marker-moving!

I also thought about single-clicking adding an additional marker to the bottom, leaving all previous markers intact. Not sure if that would actually be useful or just annoying/cluttery. I'll play around and see if I like it or not. Thoughts?

Many thanks! Minor change request though: The single click could
create a marker at the bottom if there is no marker yet :-)

Having previous markers intact sounds unnecessary to me. I'm
using them only as a bookmark.

Awesome script!

I ran into the following issue:
When I'm sending a PM through right-click->/msg in a channel that I'm listening to,
the PM does get sent, but it throws an error to the events pane:

Unknown command: /games
(when listening to /games, in this case)

This happens both with and without mafia.

Edit: fixed by Chez, thanks!

Latest version fixes a couple of bugs mentioned above. New PM's are also now highlighted in green rather than red to distinguish them from normal chat channels.

Many thanks to both Tuss and Croft for the suggestions and help with testing.

I do miss this from CDM's script, though, and would love it if it were in the next version (or if it's in the current version, how to enable it).

I seem to be running into some issues posting PM's into chat.

It doesn't post, but instead creates this tab:

Image

It can't be closed and is unclickable, the only way to remove it is to exit ad re-enter chat. It only seems to happen some of the time, so I'm not sure what the variable I'm missing is.

This happened to me several times as well (including the same line from Journe's screenshot, so it seems it does post).
